Is KSPO Dome Bigger Than Inspire Arena? Seoul Venue Capacities, From the Operators' Own Pages

If you have searched kspo dome vs inspire arena, or asked whether KSPO Dome is bigger than Gocheok Sky Dome, you have probably noticed that the answer changes depending on which page you open. We went looking for the reason on 2026-09-15, and it is not that the blogs are careless.
The venue operators themselves publish different numbers.
The KSPO Dome capacity question has two official answers
KSPO DOME is run by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. On its rental page, the building is described as holding 15,000 people. On its own venue-guide page for the same building, the sentence reads 14,594.
Same operator. Same building. Two pages. A gap of 406 people.
Neither page is a fan site or a wiki. We are not able to say which one is current, because neither page carries a date. This is worth knowing before you trust any single number you read about a Korean venue, including the ones below.
"Seats" and "capacity" are two different numbers, and most venues only publish one
A concert is not a basketball game. The stage eats seats behind it, the floor may be chaired or left standing, and the two configurations can differ by thousands of people. Korean operators tend to publish the seat count (좌석수) and say nothing about the concert figure.
Olympic Hall is the exception, and it shows how large the gap is. The operator publishes 2,452 fixed seats, including 22 wheelchair spaces, and then adds that the floor holds 500 to 600 more once chairs go in. So the honest answer for Olympic Hall is a range, roughly 2,452 to 3,050, not a single figure.
Every other venue on this page publishes one number and leaves you to guess the rest.
Seoul-area venues by published seat count
These are the figures the operators print, not figures we calculated. Where two official sources disagree, both are shown. Three lines carry an operator disagreeing with itself or with the city: KSPO Dome, Jamsil Indoor Stadium and Goyang. The KINTEX line carries no number at all, because nothing is published.
| Venue | Published figure | Who publishes it |
|---|---|---|
| Jamsil Olympic Stadium 잠실올림픽주경기장 | 65,599 seats (max 100,000) | Seoul city stadium portal |
| Goyang Sports Complex 고양종합운동장 | 41,311 seats (city) / 40,907 + 992 (operator) | Goyang City / venue operator |
| Seoul Arena 서울아레나 (opens 2027) | 18,269 seats | Seoul Mediahub |
| Gocheok Sky Dome 고척스카이돔 | 16,601 seats | Seoul Facilities Corporation |
| KSPO DOME 체조경기장 | 15,000 or 14,594 | KSPO (two of its own pages) |
| Inspire Arena 인스파이어 아레나 | up to 15,000 | Mohegan |
| Jamsil Indoor Stadium 잠실실내체육관 | 11,044 or 11,032 seats (capacity 20,000) | Seoul city stadium portal |
| Ticketlink Live Arena 핸드볼경기장 | 5,003 seats | KSPO |
| Jangchung Arena 장충체육관 | 4,507 seats, 1,324 of them retractable | Seoul Facilities Corporation |
| Olympic Hall 올림픽홀 | 2,452 fixed + 500-600 floor | KSPO |
| KINTEX halls 킨텍스 | no seat count published | KINTEX |
Read the table as a ranking of published seat counts, not of how hard a ticket will be. The top two are stadiums, and one of them cannot be booked at all right now. The four venues that actually host most K-pop concerts sit in a narrow band between 11,000 and 16,601, which is why so many shows feel equally impossible to get into.
KSPO Dome vs Inspire Arena capacity: the same number, a different room
On the published figures, they are the same size or KSPO Dome is very slightly smaller. Both are quoted at 15,000, and KSPO's second page says 14,594.
The difference is what that 15,000 means. For Inspire Arena, 15,000 is the maximum of a reconfigurable room. Seoul Economic Daily, reporting from the arena's opening in January 2024, describes 15,000 with a 360-degree in-the-round stage and about 12,000 with a T-shaped stage, scaling down to 3,000 or 5,000 for smaller shows. Herald Business reported actual audiences of 7,000 to 8,000 in its first months.
So a show at Inspire Arena might be selling 15,000 tickets, or 12,000, or 5,000, and the venue name alone will not tell you which.
KSPO Dome vs Gocheok Sky Dome: Gocheok is bigger, by an amount nobody states
Gocheok Sky Dome publishes 16,601 seats, and its own rental page adds that the figure can vary with how an event is run. That is a baseball seat count.
For concerts, English sources split. Seoul's official English site has said up to 25,000. So has the Korea Herald. The Korea Times has said 20,000. The operator publishes no concert figure at all, so there is nothing to settle the argument with.
We are not going to pick one. If a number matters to your decision, treat Gocheok as "larger than KSPO Dome, by an amount nobody official has stated."
KSPO Dome vs Jamsil Indoor Stadium: one of them is on its way out
This comparison has an expiry date. Jamsil Indoor Stadium publishes 11,044 seats, between 3,550 and 3,956 fewer than KSPO Dome depending on which of its two figures you take, and it is being demolished as part of the Jamsil redevelopment. Its last professional basketball game was on 8 April 2026, and the last concert registered in the national performance database runs to 20 September 2026, with nothing registered after that.
We have not found an operator notice naming a closing date, so treat 20 September as the last scheduled show rather than an announced shutdown.
Its own official page is another example of the problem this article is about: the summary block says 11,044 seats while the floor-plan block on the same page says 11,032.
If you see a 2027 tour listing this building, check it twice.
One place you cannot book, and one that closes in November
Jamsil Olympic Stadium is the biggest venue in the city at 65,599 seats, and it has been closed for a remodel. The Seoul city rental page carries a notice that the main stadium, the auxiliary stadium and two other facilities are unavailable from November 2023 through December 2026. Star News Korea reported in May 2025 that concerts are expected to resume in the first half of 2027. That closure is the reason so many large shows have moved out to Goyang Stadium.
88 Jandi Madang (88잔디마당), the outdoor lawn inside Olympic Park, closes from November 2026 to March 2027 for a full turf rebuild. The notice went up on 2026-02-25. If you are planning a trip around an outdoor festival in Olympic Park this winter, that space will not be available.
We could not find a person capacity for the lawn anywhere on the operator's site. What it publishes is the area, about 33,000 square metres.
Why KINTEX has no number at all
KINTEX hosts a growing share of Seoul-area concerts, and it publishes floor area, ceiling height and floor load for every hall, but no seat count for any of the halls K-pop uses. Hall 5 is 10,611 square metres, Hall 9 is 13,238, Hall 10 is 13,072, all with 15-metre ceilings.
These are exhibition halls with flat concrete floors. There are no seats until a promoter brings them in, so the capacity of a KINTEX show is set by that promoter's layout, and it appears for the first time on the ticket page.
KINTEX does not state that policy in writing anywhere we could find. We are reading it from the absence of any published figure.
What is coming
Seoul Arena in Changdong is being built specifically for K-pop, with 18,269 seats plus a separate hall holding up to 7,000. Opening is now described as the first half of 2027, moved from an earlier target of March that year.
Some headlines call it a 28,000-seat arena. That figure is the simultaneous occupancy of the entire complex, arena plus the 7,000-seat hall plus cinema and retail. It is not the arena.
What this means when you are buying a ticket
Venue size is a rough proxy for how fast a show sells out, and the spread is real. A night at Olympic Hall puts roughly 3,000 tickets on sale. A night at Gocheok puts more than five times that many.
Some upcoming examples, all confirmed on the seller pages: NCT 127 plays KSPO DOME on 18-20 September 2026. izna plays Olympic Hall on 19-20 September. &TEAM returns to KSPO DOME on 3-4 October. 10CM plays Olympic Hall across 9-11 October.
Those are all inside Olympic Park, and the size difference between them is about five to one. The full month is in our October 2026 concert guide.
People also search kspo dome vs goyang stadium, and that pairing is less useful than it looks. Goyang is an open-air stadium, published by the city at 41,311 seats and broken out by its operator as 40,907 plus 992, used for the kind of show that has outgrown every indoor room in the city. It is not an alternative to KSPO Dome so much as the next tier up.
One more trap worth knowing. On 18 September, TAEMIN plays Jamsil Indoor Stadium, which is in the Jamsil sports complex, a different neighbourhood entirely and six stops away on Line 9. NCT 127 the same night is in Olympic Park. Both listings contain the word "Olympic" somewhere in the venue chain, and the seller pages do not spell out which complex you want.

Frequently asked
How many seats does KSPO Dome have?
Its operator publishes 15,000 on one page and 14,594 on another, and neither page is dated. There is no official concert or standing figure. The widely repeated "16,000 for an in-the-round stage" traces only to wikis and blogs, so we have left it out.
Is KSPO Dome a stadium or an indoor arena?
An indoor arena. It was built as the gymnastics venue for the 1988 Olympics, which is why some tickets still print 체조경기장. The stadium in the area is Jamsil Olympic Stadium, and it is a separate site.
Which is bigger, KSPO Dome or Gocheok Sky Dome?
Gocheok, on every published figure. Gocheok prints 16,601 seats against KSPO Dome's 15,000 or 14,594.
Is KSPO Dome or Inspire Arena bigger for a concert?
Neither, on paper. Both are quoted at 15,000. In practice Inspire changes shape per show, so a 15,000 listing there is a maximum rather than a fixed room, while KSPO Dome's own pages disagree with each other at 15,000 and 14,594.
Is Inspire Arena bigger than Jamsil Indoor Stadium?
Yes, on published figures. Inspire is quoted at up to 15,000 and Jamsil Indoor at 11,044 seats.
Why do English guides disagree about KSPO Dome and Gocheok capacity?
Because the Korean sources disagree first. Gocheok appears as 16,601 on its operator's current page and 16,813 on a Seoul city page from 2018, and higher figures from its original specification are still in circulation. Where an operator publishes a figure we used that one, and where two official sources disagree the table names both.
How this page was made
Every figure above was taken from the venue operator's own page on 2026-09-15, or from a named press report where no operator figure exists. Where two official sources disagree, both are printed rather than averaged, and the table says who publishes each one.
Wikis and fan blogs were excluded as number sources. That decision is why four widely circulated figures are missing from this page: the KSPO Dome in-the-round maximum, a person capacity for 88 Jandi Madang, the post-renovation capacity of Jamsil Olympic Stadium, and a concert capacity for any KINTEX hall. None of them has a source we could name.
Korean venue pages do not carry publication dates, so all official figures here are current as retrieved on 2026-09-15, not as published on a stated date.
