Jangchung Arena Capacity: 4,507 Seats and Why 1,324 of Them Fold Away

English pages give Jangchung Arena capacity as several different numbers. One widely repeated figure splits it as 1,650 seats on the bottom floor and 2,968 on the top. In the pages we opened on 2026-09-12, none cited the venue operator.
The operator is the Seoul Facilities Corporation, and its facility page gives one number: 4,507 seats. The same page adds a detail that every English source leaves out — 1,324 of those seats fold away. Checked 2026-09-12.
What is the official capacity of Jangchung Arena?
| Item | Official figure | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Total seats | 4,507 | Includes 1,324 retractable seats |
| Retractable seats | 1,324 | Floor 1, telescopic |
| Fixed seats | Floors 2–3 | Built into the building |
| Building | 2 below ground, 3 above | Total floor area 11,399.20 m² |
| Parking | 63 spaces | Includes 2 accessible, 2 bus, 8 women-only, 5 VIP |
Why does the capacity change from show to show?
Because of those 1,324 seats. Retractable seating, also called telescopic seating, slides back under itself and folds flat against the wall. When it is folded, that part of the room is simply bare floor.
The operator's 4,507 figure is stated as including those 1,324 retractable seats. Fold them in and that many seats leave the room.
- Folded away, the seats on sale that night are fewer than 4,507.
- Some shows use that floor as a standing pit instead. How many people are admitted then is not published.
- Either way, the "capacity" of Jangchung Arena is a per-show number, not a fixed one.
Why the English pages disagree with each other, we could not establish — none of them say where their figures came from.
What we can say is which page answers which question. For the official seat count, use the operator's facility page: that is the Jangchung Arena in Seoul capacity figure with a name behind it. For the seats actually on sale at one concert, use that show's ticketing page — Jangchung Arena concert capacity is set there, not by the building, and a Jangchung Arena Seoul capacity number quoted with no source is not worth planning around.
Floor 1 or Floor 2: which seats are better?
Korean-language questions about seats here tend to circle one worry: floor 1 is closer, but it has little rake, so a tall person in front can block the stage.
The structure explains that. Floor 1 is the retractable tier and sits nearly level with the arena floor. Floors 2 and 3 are fixed seating built into the building, so each row is clearly higher than the one in front.
- Floors 2–3 give you a reliable sightline over the row in front.
- Floor 1 puts you closer, but your sightline depends on who sits in front of you.
- Which one wins depends on where the stage is built, and that changes per show.
We are not going to name a best section. Look at the seat map on the ticketing page for your specific show.
How do I read the section letters?
The official Jangchung Arena seating plan labels each block with a letter and a number. The operator publishes it only as an image, and the labels do not survive being zoomed, so here it is redrawn at a size you can actually read.
- The inner ring ends in 1: A1, B1, C1 and so on.
- The outer ring ends in 2: A2, B2, C2.
- Letters run A through R around the bowl.
- There are eight entrances, GATE 1 through GATE 8.
- Two video boards face each other at opposite ends.
The trailing digit is not a floor number. It tells you inner ring or outer ring. B1 and B2 face the same direction; B2 is in the outer ring, farther back.
One thing to know before you go looking for it: the operator publishes this Jangchung Arena map as a single image file with no text version, and in the pages we opened we did not find the block letters written out in readable English anywhere.
One warning: ticketing pages usually do not use these labels. Promoters rename everything as "Floor", "Standing" or "R Seat". Treat the official block letters and the ticket grades as two separate systems.
Can I drive to Jangchung Arena?
Two numbers answer this. The arena seats 4,507. The car park has 63 spaces — roughly one space per 72 seats.
And the operator's own directions page says this outright: no general parking on event days. The 63 spaces are not opened to ticket holders when something is on.
How do I get to Jangchung Arena by subway?
The official wording is short and unusually good news: Line 3, Dongdaeipgu Station, Exit 5, directly connected to the arena.
Exit 5 opens into the building. You do not come up to street level and hunt for it, which matters here because the arena sits on the slope below Namsan.
| How you arrive | Where you get off | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Subway | Line 3, Dongdaeipgu Station | Exit 5, directly connected to the arena |
| Bus | Jangchung Arena (장충체육관앞), stop 02-201 / 02-202 | N13, 144, 301, 7212 |
| Bus | Dongdaeipgu Stn. (동대입구역·장충동), stop 02-222 | 05, 02, 03 |
Walking time from the station is not published by the operator, so we are not inventing one.
What is Jangchung Arena in Korean?
- Jangchung Arena is 장충체육관 — the spelling to type into Naver Map or show a taxi driver.
- Dongdaeipgu Station is 동대입구역, on Line 3.
- Exit 5 appears on station signage as 5번 출구.
- Retractable seating is 가변석 in venue documents.
The building sign carries both spellings, so the entrance is easy to confirm once you are there. Getting there is the part where the Korean helps: type 장충체육관 into Naver Map rather than the English name.
What is on at Jangchung Arena in October 2026?
| Show | Dates | Note |
|---|---|---|
| tripleS World Tour <ANDLESS> | 10–11 October | 18:00 both nights; general sale opened 21 August 2026 |
| Damons Year (데이먼스 이어) | 24–25 October | Listed on the NOL product page |
For tripleS, the bulk ticket dispatch date given in the notice is 8 September 2026. If you buy after that, check on the ticketing page whether your ticket is posted or held for box-office pickup — that detail matters more than usual when you are flying in.
Jangchung Arena tickets are sold by the promoter of each show rather than by the venue, so seat grades and prices differ by show and are not reproduced here. The ticketing page for your show is the only current source.
What we could not confirm
- The seat breakdown by category. The official floor plan exists only as a low-resolution image file, and the sub-totals are not legible enough to publish.
- Walking time from Dongdaeipgu Station to the arena. The operator publishes no figure.
- Seats actually on sale for any specific October show. That is set by each promoter.
Venue specifications and directions come from the operator's own pages. Event dates and ticket details come from Ticketlink and NOL. Every source was checked on 2026-09-12.

Frequently asked questions
How many seats does Jangchung Arena have in total?
The Seoul Facilities Corporation lists 4,507 seats. Because 1,324 of them are retractable, the number actually on sale depends on how the promoter builds the show.
What does retractable seating mean at a concert?
It is telescopic seating that slides back and folds flat against the wall. Folded, it turns into open floor that can be used for a stage or a standing pit.
Is there parking at Jangchung Arena for concerts?
Effectively no. There are 63 spaces, and the operator states that general parking is not available on event days. Take Line 3.
Which subway exit takes me to Jangchung Arena?
Exit 5 at Dongdaeipgu Station on Line 3, which connects directly into the building.
Should I book Floor 1 or Floor 2 seats at Jangchung Arena?
There is no fixed answer because the stage position changes per show. Floor 1 is closer with little rake; Floors 2 and 3 are fixed tiers with a dependable sightline.
